Government creates commission for May Day celebrations
Order no. 142/2026, signed by the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labour and Youth, Paula Cristina Baptista Margarido, establishes the creation of the "Commission for the May 1st Celebrations - Workers' Day". The objective is to develop and execute the program of cultural, recreational, and sports activities for this year's celebration in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The commission is composed of eight members:
- Rogério Gomes Gouveia (Coordinator)
- Adelino Franco Gomes Jardim
- João Roquelino Tranquada Gomes de Ornelas
- Carla Sónia Rebelo Carvão Teixeira de Jesus
- Lúcia Patrícia Faria de Sousa (Madeira Social Security Institute, IP-RAM)
- Maria Luísa Freitas Spínola (Madeira Employment Institute, IP-RAM)
- Graça Maria Nóbrega Coelho (Regional Directorate of Labour)
- Sandra Maria Fernandes Gonçalves (Regional Authority for Working Conditions)
The commission has autonomy to perform financial acts and must submit a final report of activities and expenses by August 1, 2026.
